Purebred dogs are bred in strict accordance with the requirements of the standard. Outlined in the standard are the animal’s size, weight and body build, and any visible deviation from it can be a disqualifying fault. The standard also outlines major behavioral traits intrinsic to the breed, and the dog’s reaction toward various situations and influences. Upbringing is also evaluated at shows, as is the dog’s intelligence and ability to carry out basic commands. Dogs suffering from contagious diseases cannot be involved in breeding programs. Dogs with visible deviations from the standard are termed pet quality dogs.

Your house will be inspected by the committee and you will have to fill out a questioner with lots of questions concerning your lifestyle and experience.
