In fact, most breeds were developed from mixed species. Technically, a mixed breed is the offspring of two different purebred dogs. The mating of a purebred and a mixed breed results in a litter of mongrels. And finally, if both parents are either mixed breeds or mongrels, the pups are mutts. Such dogs combine the features of their parents and each one is unique. They make excellent family companions and may participate in various activities and competitions for mutts and their people, such as dog agility, Frisbee, flyball, musical freestyle and others.
